Rules and Regulations for the Maryland State ASA Scholarship Fund

 

 

  1. Any candidate for a scholarship must make formal application for this aid to the Scholarship Committee by April 15th.
  1. All applicants must reside in the State of Maryland and have played ASA sanctioned softball last season.
  1. The following qualities shall be used to determine the scholarship recipients:
    1. The academic performance of the applicant.
    2. The high school extra curricular activity of the applicant.
    3. The applicants community involvement.
    4. The applicants participation in ASA Softball.
    5. The applicants financial need.
  1. All funds shall be open for use in any accredited institution of higher learning.  The student must take a course resulting in a degree and be a full time student (minimum 12 semester hours)

5.   A draft on the scholarship fund in the amount of the award shall be presented to the recipient directly  to be used in the following manner:

a.       Dormitory room and board.

b.      Tuition and fees.

c.       Books or Educational materials.

6.   This scholarship is available only to High School Seniors and if received must be used in the fall semester following their graduation from High School

  1. All decisions of scholarship selection by the Scholarship Committee shall be final
  1. This Scholarship Fund is set up and governed by the Constitution and By-Laws of the Maryland State ASA Inc., which has a 501(c) (3) exemption.

Satisfactory proof of the recipients enrollment in college may be required.  If the recipient does not enter college, the award shall be returned to the Scholarship Fund.  Should the recipients withdraw before completion of one semesters work, the amount expended for him/her and any remaining balance shall be repayable by the recipient to the Scholarship Fund.  This shall not apply in cases of personal illness or extreme family emergencies that might necessitate their withdrawal from college.  If the recipient should withdraw from school after a semesters work has been completed any remaining funds shall be returned to the Scholarship Fund for future awards.
