| Forms here use | General Requirements for Participation in the Maryland ASA Youth Program - Any team playing in a ASA sanctioned tournament must be properly registered with the State Youth Office (SYO). The team registration fee is $10 and is effective for the entire calendar year in which the team registered from January 1st to December 31st.
- Team rosters must be sent to the Youth Director. Once thats completed, the manager should get all the players signatures and then submitted to the SYO at least two weeks prior to the team participating in its first ASA sanctioned tournament. Teams should keep a signed copy for themselves and send the one with the original signatures to the SYO. The teams insurance carrier and certificate number must also be listed on the roster.
- Birth Certificates do not need to be filed with the SYO, but legible copies must be kept with the team at all times. Failure to show a birth certificate on a player when that players eligibility is questioned, or showing one that is determined by the tournament director or SYO to be fraudulent, will result in that player being ruled ineligible, and further sanctions may be levied against the team, the manager and/or player(s).
- Proof of adequate insurance must be filed with the SYO two weeks prior to the teams first tournament. The insurance need not be issued through ASA, but must provide comparable or better coverage than that of ASA, which requires that teams must have at least $2 million in liability coverage. There were a few teams last year that thought they were adequately covered when, in fact, they had no liability insurance at all, only accident coverage, or had very low liability limits.
- When participating in any ASA sanctioned tournament all teams must carry with them copies of their signed roster, registration card, birth certificates and proof of adequate insurance. Any or all of these items must be available for immediate inspection upon request of the tournament director. Failure to do so could result in loss of game, ejection from tournament, suspension for season, expulsion from ASA, etc., with no refund of monies previously paid.
- Any team that holds an ASA sanction in a state outside of Maryland must present their roster and proof of insurance to the tournament director of each ASA sanctioned tournament in which they are participating. The due date for when these materials are to be delivered to a tournament director is up to each individual director, but must be on or before the teams first game in each tournament.
